Name: Liz Usherwood
Job title: Customer Success Manager
Hometown: Tampa, FL
How long have you been with ViewPoint?: 1 year!
Describe yourself in three words: Enthusiastic, clumsy, and intellectual
Self-awarded ViewPoint superlative: Most likely to laugh at own joke
Over the course of your life, how many cities/towns have you lived in, and which was your favorite?
I’ve lived in 12 cities/towns. As for my favorite, it’s a tie between Auckland, New Zealand and Northampton, Massachusetts. I met my husband in Northampton, so for sentimentality, I want to put that one. But Auckland is Auckland. It was such an adventure moving there at the age of 23 with a one-way ticket. I found a job opening to be a nanny halfway across the world and went for it.
What’s the thing you love most about Auckland?
What’s not to love about Auckland? Fish & Chips on the beach, amazing Thai food, the self-deprecating humor of the Kiwis, and of course the views.
Can you share one of your favorite photos taken there? Where were you, and what’s the story behind it?
This is a picture of the Auckland skyline from the inactive volcanoes in Devonport. I think this was taken after a picnic up there. I was namely in awe of living in Auckland at this point. The views in New Zealand are stunning and bring back lovely memories!
What are you currently binge-watching?
My husband is making me watch all of the Marvel superhero movies before the next one comes out so I can go see it in theaters with him. That’s like 17 movies to catch up on. (Full confession: I’m kind of loving it.)
What’s something you love that everyone you know hates?
Goat cheese! I don’t know if everyone hate it, but not enough people love it.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is getting to solve problems. I love going to a town or city hall on launch day and sitting with the end-users and helping them feel at ease. There is often a lot of anxiety surrounding switching software and creating new processes, and it is very exciting to help ease those fears and see drastic change happen in a community.
What’s one thing about yourself that might still surprise your co-workers?
That I used to be an anthropologist. Qualitative research methods for the win!
When was the last time you really laughed?
It is not hyperbole to say: I really laugh every day.
What’s your favorite ViewPoint memory?
My favorite memory is having an impromptu “implementation meeting” lunch with Kal when I came up for a day. I got to learn so much about them!
Who is someone you admire, and why?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg—she is a cultural icon.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in the last year?
There was so much that changed for me in the last year. I started at ViewPoint, got married, and moved to Rhode Island. So I think I’ve learned how to take things in stride, which is a huge lesson for this type-A personality!
