ViewPoint Government Solutions is excited to announce that Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has selected ViewPoint Cloud to bring modern, user-friendly permitting to the agency. VTA will be using ViewPoint Cloud to manage construction permitting in and around their transportation hubs, furthering their mission to provide community-focused transportation options that are innovative, environmentally responsible, and promote the vitality of the region.
Acting as the public transit, transportation planning, and congestion management authority for Santa Clara County, VTA serves the municipalities of San Jose, Palo Alto, Saratoga, and more, with a total population count close to 2 million. As an organization that continually looks to build partnerships to deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of Santa Clara County, upgrading their permit management system was a clear opportunity for improvement.
The Transportation Authority had previously been using a manual process, centered around PDFs, emailing, and phone calls. Implementing modern ePermitting software fit VTA’s immediate and practical needs of streamlining processes and increasing transparency, while also aligning with their larger goal of eliminating the use of paper to be more environmentally friendly. VTA knew that making the switch would also be a huge time-saver for staff.
“Our permits have been increasing in volume, leading us to look for a more streamlined way to manage them,” explains Kathy Bradley, Manager of Real Estate & Joint Development at Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. “Additionally, we wanted applicants to be able to view the status of their permits in real time, through an online system.”
Using ViewPoint Cloud, all permitting processes will be centralized in one place and easily accessible to the public. With online submissions, application tracking, applicant-to-reviewer messaging, and back-end workflow automation, VTA is looking toward a higher standard for construction permitting.
In deciding on a solution, Bradley reflects that the biggest factors in selecting ViewPoint Cloud were “the ease of set-up, the low cost, and the fact that many other public agencies had already adopted ViewPoint Cloud as their permitting platform.”
